Dennis Hollinger points out at the flaw of the interpretation of sex as undertaken by the Church. He believed that as per the Christian ethics, sex is originally a gift from God for His creation for when He created men, He blessed them with the ability to be fertile and increases in number through involving in sex which was essentially linked to procreation. However he laments that the doctrine of asceticism with its emphasis upon the denigration of the human body and all things physical compelled the Church to regard sex as being synonymous to sin. However, he upholds the sacredness of this act in terms of its utility in helping to further God’s creation.
